From my perspective, it stands to reason that if it’s important to you to keep a good-sized library of private drawings online, you should be willing to pay for the storage space.

That’s a reasonable stance. Perhaps the free accounts could have only a very limited number of private drawings, like one or two?

Derakon, if we allowed just 1 or 2 private drawings, that could get confusing for the user, who might mistake a public drawing for a private one. It’s simpler to have either all private or none private.

This great utility should be also enabled for corporate confidential collaboration. I am sure corporate users would be interested in paying a fee for unlimited PRIVATE drawings. I only suggest to be able to disable “Make public” for a lead account on other accounts.

Hi,
Thanks for Dabbleboard!
I think that people prefer keeping their drawings private,
at least by default,
even if they can only draw 1 or 2 drawings total
on the whiteboard.
Perhaps, the free version can be ad supported?
With text ads like Google?
Or if necessary, even with banner ads?
If drawings that people didn’t realize would be made public,
were suddenly made public,
I think users could become very unhappy.
Anyways, please consider an ad supported version
to help defray your costs.
And even if you only one 1 or 2 drawings total for
the free account, please keep the drawings private
by default. Some private ideas i’m sure have been
discussed on these whiteboards.
Thanks,
Wes

really impressive stuff. It would be a shame if people could not get access to it freely.
if the number of private was limited in the free account if would only take a simple nag to remind them that they have used up there free privates, and that they can opt to download a local store one of their private allotment to free up the private store. I think 3-5 would be good.
Also, drawings in the free account should not be free to download to the guests/collaborators. If I am using this cloud space to collaborate with others, then the beneficiaries of the freeness (the ones who wish to download) will get the adverts. This makes getting the ads to disappear important to the account holder.
If you tell me I get something for free, but is ad supported I can deal with that since I will opt out of looking at the ads and i am prepared to ignore them. But if the people I share my content with, are assulted with an ad for the privilege of downloading my content. Then I feel more obliged to want to make their life easier and ad free (since i came to the cloud for convenience).

I just like the approach you took with this article. It isn’t every day that you simply find something so to the point and informative.
